Client permission is a harder constraint here than anywhere else
You are photographing the inside of someone private cupboards. Build permission into the contract rather than asking on the day, and shoot your own or staged spaces when you cannot get it. This is the real reason organizers post fewer literal before shots than painters do, and it is a good reason.
This trade used to be the outlier on hashtag count
The trade convention was to use all thirty and put them in the first comment, so the feed stayed visually clean. Both halves of that are gone: five is the cap and the comment does not give you extra slots. The instinct behind it, keep the caption clean in a visually judged trade, is now solved for you.
Room specific beats generic, every time

Never make the client the joke
Every before belongs to a capable person whose storage stopped matching their life. Say that out loud in the caption occasionally. It is true, it is kind, and it converts better than the mess ever will.

January is the hard peak, driven by resolutions and post holiday clutter, and the content has to be live before the first of the month because the press cycle runs in December. Spring is the second window and August is the third.
Shooting a pair that survives the comments
Same doorway, same shelf height, doors open the same amount in both frames. The temptation in this trade is to shoot the after from further back because it finally looks good: do not, because a wider after frame makes the room look bigger and the comparison stops being true.
The universal rule underneath all of that, stated independently by sources in every trade researched for this site: identical angle, identical lighting, both frames.
